What medications are used to treat osteoporosis?
Answered By Editor
There are multiple medical treatments
available today for osteoporosis. Because
women are mainly affected by osteoporosis due
to estrogen loss, estrogen therapy is one of
the most common medical treatments for
osteoporosis. In fact, estrogen replacement
therapy has been used to treat osteoporosis
for many years. Today, non-hormonal treatment
for osteoporosis is also available. Here are
some examples:
* Biphosphonates, Alendronate and Risedronate.
* Raloxifene, Selective estrogen receptor
modulator and Calcitonin.
It is recommended that you should first
consult with your physician first in order to
know which treatment is the best for you.
