What is osteonecrosis of the jaw?

Answered By Editor

This particular condition is an uncommon condition that affects the jaw bone. This condition causes the jaw bone to experience a decline in bone density. This will result in swelling, pain or infection of the gums, poor healing of the gums, numbness of the jaw, feeling heaviness of the jaw, and loosening of teeth.

Osteonecrosis of the jaw is a serious condition and you should inform your dentist about it as soon as you experience the mentioned symptoms. If your dentist confirms that you are suffering from the osteonecrosis of the jaw, he or she will recommend you to an oral surgeon or dental oncologist that has experienced cases of osteonecrosis.
